The GY-HM890 shares the GY-HM850 network and Clip Server workflow: a supported HOST USB adapter provides connectivity, four profiles can target arbitrary FTP/SFTP/FTPS/FTPES servers, and completed clips can be selected on-camera or through the browser UI.

What to gather

  1. 01Current GY-HM890 firmware.
  2. 02A JVC-supported HOST USB Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or cellular adapter.
  3. 03A recorded test clip on SD media.
  4. 04Camera to Anywhere host, protocol, port, credentials, and directory.
  5. 05Expected server fingerprint for a secure protocol.

Connection fields

Alias

Short job/destination name.

Identifies the profile in the upload screen.

Protocol

FTP, SFTP, FTPS (implicit), or FTPES (explicit).

Must match the receiver.

Server

Hostname or IP only.

Identifies Camera to Anywhere ingress.

Port

Assigned port.

Selects the protocol listener.

Dir. Path

Assigned remote directory.

Routes the clip to the proper workflow.

Username

Per-source username.

Authenticates the camera.

Password

Issued password.

Completes authentication.

PASV Mode

On for FTP-family protocols behind NAT; unavailable for SFTP.

Uses passive data connections.

Transfer modes

Media behavior

  • Uploads completed clips from SD media.
  • Progress and stop controls appear during transfer.
  • Secure protocols display a server fingerprint.
  • Duplicate names normally prompt before overwrite.
  • The camera can resume shooting while a transfer is in progress.

Limits and warnings

  • Requires a supported HOST USB adapter.
  • No automatic or chunked FTP workflow is documented in this family manual.
  • HTTP FTP proxy mode permits only FTP and may overwrite without prompting.
  • Resume is not documented in this manual revision.
  • Network-adapter support should be checked against JVC's current list.

Prove it on your body

Run this checklist on the exact body, firmware, network, and media format you will use on assignment.

Use the current firmware and JVC's current supported-adapter list. FTP resume is unavailable when SFTP is selected. Physical Camera to Anywhere interoperability is not yet lab-verified.

  3. 03Fingerprint is verified.
  4. 04A short clip uploads.
  5. 05Remote filename and size match.
  6. 06Failure/retry behavior is tested before production.

If it will not send

01Cannot connect

Verify adapter recognition, IP/DNS/gateway, server, port, and firewall.

02Access denied

Confirm remote directory permissions.

03Invalid credentials

Correct Username and Password in the selected Clip-FTP profile.

04Invalid path

Correct Dir. Path and ensure it exists.

05Certificate/key warning

Validate the fingerprint with the endpoint administrator.
