JVC GY-HM200 FTP setup

FTP · SFTP · FTPS implicit · FTPES explicitAccessory-assisted camera client2015

The GY-HM200 can upload completed SD-card clips to four configurable FTP, SFTP, implicit FTPS, or explicit FTPES destinations through a supported HOST USB network adapter. The HM200-only network workflow supports camera and browser selection; current feature documentation also adds resumable FTP-family transfers.

What to gather

  1. 01Current GY-HM200 firmware; the shared HM200/HM170 manual marks FTP networking as HM200-only.
  2. 02A supported USB Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or cellular adapter connected to HOST.
  3. 03A recorded test clip.
  4. 04Camera to Anywhere host, protocol, port, credentials, and remote directory.
  5. 05Expected server fingerprint for SFTP/FTPS/FTPES.

What moves, and what does not

Transfer modes

  • Single clip
  • Multiple selected clips
  • All playable clips
  • Browser all/OK/selected upload
  • Background upload while returning to Camera mode
  • Resume for supported non-SFTP transfers

Media behavior

  • Uploads completed video clips, not a live feed.
  • The current SD slot/thumbnail view controls selection.
  • Progress and stop controls are displayed.
  • Secure protocols prompt for fingerprint verification.
  • A same-name smaller remote file can be treated as a partial transfer and offer Resume.

Limits and warnings

  • The GY-HM170 in the shared manual does not have this FTP workflow.
  • A supported HOST USB adapter is required.
  • Resume is disabled for SFTP and an HTTP FTP proxy.
  • An HTTP proxy supports only FTP and can change duplicate-overwrite behavior.
  • Adapter support and firmware should be checked before an event.

Prove it on your body

Run this checklist on the exact body, firmware, network, and media format you will use on assignment.

The shared manual marks networking and FTP as GY-HM200-only features; GY-HM170 is excluded. Use current firmware; FTP resume is unavailable with SFTP. Physical Camera to Anywhere interoperability is not yet lab-verified.

  1. 01Supported adapter has an IP.
  2. 02Correct Clip Server profile is selected.
  3. 03Fingerprint is approved.
  4. 04One short clip reaches the destination.
  5. 05Remote filename and byte size match.
  6. 06A controlled interruption resumes only its own partial file.

If it will not send

01FTP menus unavailable

02Cannot connect

Verify network addressing, host, port, protocol, and venue egress.

03Authentication or path error

Correct Username, Password, and Dir. Path.

04Resume unavailable

Use a resume-capable FTP/FTPS/FTPES server, no HTTP proxy, and a smaller partial file of the same name.

05Secure connection prompt

Validate the displayed fingerprint against the approved endpoint value.
