The GY-HC550 shares the HC500-family destination-neutral upload system: four FTP/SFTP/FTPS/FTPES profiles, automatic post-record upload, manual and browser selection, resumable FTP-family transfers, and HD+Web Slot-B proxy chunking. Built-in Ethernet provides the simplest Camera to Anywhere connection, with supported USB adapters for Wi-Fi or cellular.

Media behavior

  • Auto FTP watches one configured slot.
  • Chunked upload sends Slot-B proxy segments during HD+Web recording.
  • Manual selection uses playable thumbnail clips.
  • Status displays progress and errors.
  • Same-name smaller files can trigger Resume.

Limits and warnings

  • Recording to the same slot interrupts its active auto upload.
  • FTP is unavailable during live streaming or Return over IP.
  • High-Speed mode disables FTP.
  • Chunking requires HD+Web and Slot B.
  • SFTP and HTTP proxy disable Resume.
  • Wi-Fi/cellular requires a supported HOST USB adapter.

Run this checklist on the exact body, firmware, network, and media format you will use on assignment.

High-Speed recording disables clip FTP. Automatic chunked upload is limited to supported record configurations. Use current firmware; FTP resume is unavailable with SFTP. Physical Camera to Anywhere interoperability is not yet lab-verified.

If it will not send

01Auto transfer inactive

Select Auto, Slot, Server, and Auto Upload On outside High-Speed mode.

02Recording interrupts upload

Separate recording and transfer slots.

03Chunking inactive

Verify HD+Web, Slot B, Division, and Auto Upload.

04Endpoint rejected

Verify host, port, protocol, login, path, and permissions.

05Resume missing

Use resume-capable FTP/FTPS/FTPES without HTTP proxy and the correct partial file.
