PicPortal alternative: when a live gallery is not the whole job
PicPortal sends camera FTP uploads to a live client gallery from $4.99 a month. Compare it with Camera to Anywhere for encrypted upload, video, and delivery to Dropbox, Drive, Frame.io or a NAS.
The short answer
Keep PicPortal if the job ends in a live client gallery with captions: it does that well, from $4.99 a month. Look at an alternative when the camera must upload over FTPS or SFTP, when video has to travel too, or when files must land in the client’s own Google Drive, OneDrive, Box or NAS. Camera to Anywhere does those, with no subscription and no charge for the first 20 GB delivered each month.1,3,6,7
PicPortal is a live client gallery that your camera feeds over FTP.
The camera’s FTP client sends each frame to PicPortal, and the frame appears in a web gallery the client can open, favorite and download. PicPortal adds metadata templates, code replacements, ESPN roster codes, Pixel AI captions on every plan, Lightroom and Capture One presets on download, and Mac and iOS apps.2,5
For a photographer whose client wants to watch the game arrive in a gallery, that is a complete product. Nothing below argues otherwise.
PicPortal charges per month and caps images on Basic. We charge per delivered gigabyte.
PicPortal Basic allows 250 images a month; when it runs out, transfers stop until the next billing period. Every PicPortal plan includes 10 GB of storage, with more from $5 a month for 100 GB. Password and custom links start on Plus; white-labeling and seats are Team features.1
Camera to Anywhere is free for the first 20 GB delivered each month. A one-time $10 pack adds 40 GB that never expires. A failed copy costs nothing, and nothing is charged automatically.6
| Plan | Price | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| PicPortal Basic | $4.99/month or $49.99/year | 250 images a month, 10 GB storage |
| PicPortal Plus | $19.99/month or $199.99/year | Unlimited images, 10 GB storage |
| PicPortal Team | From $49.99/month, billed annually | Contact sales |
| PicPortal Day Pass | $9.99 for 48 hours | Unlimited images, 10 GB |
| Camera to Anywhere | $0, then $10 per 40 GB pack | 20 GB delivered each month at no charge; packs never expire; destination storage is yours |
The difference is where the files go.
PicPortal’s destination is its own gallery, plus AutoDownload to your computer. Camera to Anywhere has no public client gallery yet. It receives the frame, checks it, and delivers separate copies to the places the job names.3,7

Three cases where PicPortal is the wrong shape.
If none of these describe your work, stay with PicPortal.
The upload has to be encrypted
Plain FTP sends the camera’s login and every frame in the clear across a venue or hotspot network. Most current pro bodies can send FTPS or SFTP instead.8
The client owns the archive
An agency’s Dropbox, a team’s Google Drive, an editor’s Frame.io project: the job ends when the file is there, not in a third-party gallery with a 10 GB allowance.
Video comes off the same camera
Hybrid shooters send clips from the same FTP menu. A route that handles stills and video together saves a second workflow.
